Colombia is acknowledged around the world for its production of mild coffee, flowers, emeralds, coal and petroleum, for its cultural diversity, and for holding the number two place in the world for biodiversity.
It possesses great extensions of under-tapped lands, apt for agriculture. Its weather conditions, topography, and the physical wealth of its soils are optimal for the cultivation of African Palm.
As the number one producer of African Palm in Latin America and number four worldwide, Colombia boasts numerous advantages, such as a professional oil palm growers association founded in 1962 “Federación Nacional de Cultivadores de Palma de Aceite - Fedepalma”, available skilled labor, and technical knowledge and research related to agronomic palm cultivation techniques.
Due to all of the above, in 2008 Grupo Poligrow decided to found Poligrow Colombia Ltda. and the project Plantación de Palma Sostenible en Mapiripán – Meta (Sustainable plantation project for the production of palm oil Mapiripán - Meta).
In this short time, we are proud to boast many achievements. Among them, we mention: an over 2,500 ha palm plantation based on RSPO sustainability guidelines, improved living conditions in an isolated area of the country through the creation of Fundación Poligrow that carries out important projects of benefit to the community and to the environment alike, and the generation of 133 formal jobs.
