Energy self-sufficiency project

This project is intended to convert vegetable oil into a key source of energy for the town.Through the management and technical support of Poligrow in the initial stages, residents in Mapiripán will be able to generate energy by modifying an already-existing plant species and importing another. The type of plant selected will not be one of those used for food production or industry.
Objectives:
- To generate energy self-sufficiency in the town.
- To create employment through the cultivation of oil-producing crops with the idea of self-sustainability.
- To reduce the cost of energy for consumers.
- To make Mapiripán the first town in the country to produce “green energy”.
- To become an example of excellence and growth.
- To take this project to other towns across the country.
Este proyecto fué presentado en el Concurso de Innovación de Energía IDEAS ante el BID (Banco Interamericano de Desarrollo), el Gobierno coreano GTZ, GVEP Internacional, ha sido seleccionado como uno de los 25 ganadores que serán beneficiados con el premio de un capital para la implementación de este proyecto.
Más de 1.000 propuestas fueron recibidas para el Concurso de Innovación de Energía IDEAS, dentro del cual participaron diferentes organizaciones de todos los países de América Latina (988), así como también de los nueve países del Caribe (94).
